Abbe de L'Epee

Abbe de L'Epee

Abbe de L'Epee

Abbe de L'Epee would have to be my favorite deaf person. He was the jump start that allowed deaf people to be educated. It's just amazing what he did. Despite the image of deaf people at that time being "non-people", he regarded them people and treated them like the people. He saw the hearing and deaf as equal, in the sense that we are both human beings and have certain rights.

You're absolutely right. Abbe de L'Epee gave deaf people a chance and was one of the first people to ever publicly educate deaf children. He is a great favorite to choose! Thanks for sharing! :)
