The Best Baby Sign Language Books

We have searched for the best baby sign language books, checked them out, and read their reviews. All of the best baby sign language books we've found are listed below. Fortunately, we found a whole bunch of them.

The Amazon Kindle

Kindle 3G Wireless Reading Device
There's no denying it--most educational books are large and bulky. If you plan on being able to carry these books with you and learn on the go, we highly recommend picking up a Kindle from Amazon. The Kindle is very reasonably priced, includes wireless internet, and makes book buying extremely easy. If you see a "Buy now! Amazon Kindle" button next to any of the books below, that means the book can be on your Kindle, ready to read, in minutes. Pick one up today and you won't regret it! :)

Teach Your Baby to Sign: An Illustrated Guide to Simple Sign Language for Babies
by Monica Beyer
This book has a fantastic layout and is very easy to understand. The book includes over 200 illustrations of ASL signs as well as photos of babies signing. This is very comprehensive guide and we highly recommend it.

Baby Sign Language Basics: Early Communication for Hearing Babies and Toddlers, Original Diaper Bag Edition (Hay House Lifestyles)
by Monta Z. Briant
This book is very small (about 4" x 4") and can go wherever your baby goes! The book uses ASL (which is great), and illustrates over 60 signs. We highly recommend it.

The "Sign, Sing, and Play" Kit (Baby Sign Language Basics)
by Monta Briant, Susan Z
The point of this book is to be fun. It goes along with the Baby Sign Language Basics curriculum and includes the Sign, Sing, and Play! Book, Flash Cards for Signing and Games, the "Songs for Little Hands" CD, and the Signing Melodies and Activity Guide. You can sign along with the flashcards as you make up a story about the pictures, sing and sign a song along with the "Songs for Little Hands" music CD (an illustrated Sing-and-Sign guide is included), play a game with your baby from Sign, Sing, and Play, a book of signing games and activities for at home and on the go! Get ready to have fun and watch your baby's signing really take off!

Baby Sign Language Flash Cards: A 50-Card Deck (Baby Sign Language Basics)
by Monta Z. Briant
Flashcards are always a great way to practice and retain what you learn. These flashcards are perfect for going along with the Baby Sign Language Basics curriculum. A must have!

Baby Talk: A Guide to Using Basic Sign Language to Communicate with Your Baby
by Monica Beyer
This is a very clear step-by-step baby sign language guide. It is simple and a great first step to teaching your baby sign language. We recommend buying this informational book.

The Baby Signing Book: Includes 350 ASL Signs for Babies and Toddlers
by Sara Bingham
If you are ready for more signs with your baby, this dictionary of 300 signs makes for a user-friendly and comprehensive baby signing book! Many parents use this book in addition to the Baby Signing Time DVDs in order to learn and teach more signs. Highly recommended!

American Sign Language Dictionary, Third Edition
by Martin L. Sternberg
This is the dictionary that I own and love. It's a huge book and explains more than 5,000 signs and has over 8,000 illustrations. You definitely need to have a dictionary like this if you are interested in teaching your baby more and more signs!

The American Sign Language Handshape Dictionary
by Richard A. Tennant, Marianne Gluszak Brown, Valerie Nelson-Metlay (Illustrator)
This is a great resource in that the dictionary is organized by handshape, not by word. If you leave this book with your caregiver, she can look up the signs that your baby may be signing to her.
