Beethoven

My favorite person from Deaf History would have to be Beethoven, because even though he was deaf, he still composed some of the most remembered music pieces.

Webmaster Comments:

Great choice! Beethoven created some of the most beautiful music ever made even when he was completely deaf. He was profoundly deaf at the time he composed his Ninth Symphony! It is said that at the end of the Ninth Symphony premiere, Beethoven had to be turned around in order to see the audience applauding. His hearing loss also made performing concerts very difficult and after a failed attempt to perform in 1811, he never performed in public again. This is a great choice for a favorite person from Deaf History. Beethoven contributed so much to the music world even when he couldn't hear it. Inspiring, really :)
