How much time do you spend on your site?
by David
I just stumbled across your site, and I think it is great. I have an interest in learning sign language, but I am actually a Spanish teacher. Outside of work, I am considering putting together a similar site. This must be quite a time commitment for you, and it does not seem to be monetized. I would be interested to know what kind of time commitment you put into this site, as well as what type of computer background you have, or whether someone else takes care of those aspects for you.

Hi David,
Thank you for your kind comments about my site! I can't tell you how glad I am that you asked about it!
You have no idea how rewarding this website is for me. I love to tell people about it so that they may find this kind of happiness that I have.
Yes, this website is quite a time commitment for me, but there is a lot of hope for me to be able to make this a full time job very soon. Yes, it is a business. I started the website in July 2008. Since then, I'd have to say I've put in an average of about 20 hours a week when I worked on it. I took a few months off at the beginning of this year because of family issues, but my website kept growing and making money even when I wasn't working on it! That's the beauty of it!
The secret, though, is that I use a program called Site Build It. Without SBI, my site wouldn't be even one quarter as big and popular as it is right now. You can read more about Site Build It on this page. What SBI is is an internet "program" that does all of the hard website work for you so you can concentrate on building your business. I have a lot of background in computers, but a lot of people who have started SBI sites do not. So, I do everything on my website. I haven't had to hire anyone to do anything for me. All of the hard "analysis-type" website work is done by SBI. So, I've been able to concentrate on just building my site for the last year and half or so. They even have an Action Guide that tells you everything you need to do to build a successful online business with SBI. You really don't have to know anything about computers or the internet to get started.
I do actually monetize my site. I only use Google ads right now, but I am writing two great e-books and making a software program that I plan to offer as well.
If you have ANY interest in building a successful website that you would like to turn into a business, I HIGHLY suggest checking out SBI. I have more information about it on my About Me page as well. There's a little success story and everything too.
Yes, I do get a commission if someone buys SBI through me, BUT I would say the same thing about it even if I didn't. If I didn't truly believe in SBI and LOVE what it has to offer, I wouldn't be using it. I use it and I am always so glad to pay for it every year (yes, it's a yearly thing). It more than pays for itself every year. And the owner, Ken Evoy, has so much faith in this product and wants people to be financially free in their lives so bad that the cost of SBI is no where near close to what it's worth. I encourage you to look for anything negative about SBI. That's what I did when I first started looking into it. I couldn't find anything. The only negative reviews I found were by people who weren't willing to put in the work that is required to build their business. Yes, it is a LOT of work, but if you are passionate about it, it doesn't feel like work. I love working on my website and the constant growth means it is successful.
If you want to just build a Spanish site for fun, then I don't recommend SBI. But if you would like to make money from it, SBI is the way to go. I started this site mostly for fun and to share ASL, but I ended up making money from it! Now I have hope of spending even more time on the site in the future! SBI works for me, and it has worked for a lot of other people. The SBI community is always there to help in the forums and they are all so extremely passionate about SBI.
Thank you for giving me the chance to talk about it! I absolutely LOVE SBI and everything the company stands for--it truly is the only company I've come across these days that truly cares about its customers and really wants them to succeed. I wish I could talk more people into doing this because it has done so much for my life, but I don't know a lot of people who have the drive to start their own business.
I'm so sorry, I just rambled on forever. I could have just said "look into Site Build It." That would have taken less time to read! :)
Let me know if you have any other questions!
I wish you luck on all your endeavors!
God bless,
Michelle Jay
