ASL 3 - Unit 5

In this unit as you learn sign language free, you will be learning how to give information.

When presenting facts, there are certain structures you can use in ASL. You would use these for fractions, percentages, parts, comparisons, lists, rankings, facts, etc.

The sentence structures described in ASL 2 are the best for sharing facts and other interesting information--topicalization, rhetorical questions, and conditionals.

The best way to understand these structures is to see them in action.

Turn to page 10 in your workbook. In the video below, Mark will sign 10 statistics. Answer the question for each number in your workbook. The first one has been done for you.

Go back and review the questions you missed. Practice signing each statistic for practice.

To practice your expression skills, I want you to use your webcam (or a video camera) and sign three fun facts. These can be any of the forms discussed in this unit. Then, go back and watch your video. This is a great way to practice your expression skills and be able to critique your own signing.
