My decision to start

by Denita
(Guyana)

My name is Denita Sam and I am an Information Technology Support officer. I am currently a first year student at the university in my country pursuing a degree in International Relations. Why would I want to know sign Language?

I currently work at the main hospital in my country. Management employs every day persons who are deaf and mute. Every day as I enter work and whenever they see me especially the guys, they will greet me, by smiling, raising there hands or for those who can talk a little will utter a few words. There is this one particular guy, which for some reason I like, he always stands and waits for me to reach up with him so he can just smile at me or touch my hands. It pains me sometimes to know that I cannot communicate with him and others.

So I have made this decision to start.

Great Decision
by: Janeel Hew

I can can really relate to your story. I wish that I had been able to communicate with a certain someone before. I am so happy for you being able to have this opportunity to learn how.

Best of luck on your journey. And if you would like to learn of my story, you may find it under the History section of this online ASL class. Titled, "Touched By A Touch"

Let us know if this person and you grow together as you grow in your ability to communicate.

God bless.
