Where can I get a picture sheet of Silent Night in ASL?

by Lynn

I am teaching the children in my church the song silent night in ASL. I know all the signs, I having been signing since I was a child myself. I was wondering if you know were I can get ASL picture sheet of the song to give my children so they can practice at home?

Answer:

Hi Lynn,

Thanks for your question! Here are some resources I found online:

http://www.elijah.org/liftuphands/silent.htm (I don't like this translation very much)

http://www.lessontutor.com/ltstore1.html (for purchase)

http://www.theinterpretersfriend.org/songs/silent-night.html (A great gloss)

http://stream.lds.org/churchmusic/ASL/hymns/ASL_H_SilentNight_300K_eng.wmv (A fantastic video--good translation)

http://www.aslbible.com/carols/silentnight.html (Another good video)

If you don't like any of the printouts, you can try to create your own using screen shots of your favorite video OR by making copies of words from an ASL dictionary you might have. But sadly, I didn't find any excellent printouts. :(

Maybe this is something I'll consider making for this site if enough people are interested :)

Let me know if I can be of any more help.

God bless,

Michelle Jay

Songs NEW
by: Amber W.

I would be highly interested in a songs page!! I'm a singer in my church and i want to incorperate signing into my songs but have no idea where to even start. I also teach sunday school and would love to teach my kids how to sign the christmas carols we are learning since we carol at nursing homes and there are many elderly deaf people there.
