William "Dummy" Hoy

I just became a baseball fan and had a feeling the signals the catcher uses had a connection with sign language. I can't wait to share this info with my husband and his parents who are really avid baseball fans!!

Chase, I completely agree with you. William Hoy needs to be added to the National Baseball Hall of Fame. There is actually a blog called Time to Induct "Dummy Hoy" into the National Baseball Hall of Fame where it explains how to help get Dummy Hoy inducted. The blog says that the election was in 2008, but I don't think it's too late to continue fighting for him to be added. :)

I think it so cool that Dummy Hoy broke some of the most import redords in baseball's history but it angers me that they won't/haven't inducted him in to the Baseball Hall of Fame even though there have been nomeruos attempts by the deaf community to have him inducted!!

I know! I think it's the coolest thing, too! Did you know he was also the first person to hit a "grand slam" in the American league? Fantastic! What a great choice! Thanks for sharing :)
